Jacob Prepares to Meet Esau
We see Jacob returning from Haran. He has wives,
children, and property. He had just held the last negotiations with Laban and
made peace with him. And here are new expectations, and the incomprehensible
participation of ANGELS in the communication of two quarreling brothers - Jacob
and Esau. What kind of level of spirituality (positive and negative) do the
brothers have such that Angels are sent to communicate between the two, in
Hebrew, it is written that these Angels are Jacobs messengers?!
And then we see the reconciliation of both. And
they cried on each other's shoulders, hugging each other.
Lesson.
In the end, earthly affairs are decided by
people, not by angels...
We also read a similar statement in the books of
the New Testament.
“It is not to angels that he has subjected the
world to come…” Hebrews 2:5 NIV
“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14 NIV
How often, when we, in annoyance with someone,
call on heaven or hell (?) to solve our interhuman problems, it suddenly turns
out that this “intervention” will not end in anything good, and until we
personally go and solve the current situation – the “corn of irritation” will
only grow and interfere more and more… The Torah says in the same vein:
The commandment... It is not up in heaven, so
that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to
us so we may obey it?” Deuteronomy 30:12 NIV
Such situations for people are decided not in
heaven, but on earth, since most of the commandments teach not about the
relationship between God and man, but about the relationship between man and
man. And, similarly, not spiritual beings are involved in these decisions, but
our human emotions, experience, self-control, mood, and the main decision is to
reconcile... It is important to understand and act like it is written - ““If
your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two
of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” Matthew 18:15 NIV
Thus, you took this step and either saved your
brother from sin, “contagion”, and falling, or saved your nervous tension, corrected,
and built the basis for the Blessing. Indeed, our Heavenly Father blesses
people when they are at peace with each other. "Forgive and be forgiven."
is not just the Words of the Lord's Prayer, but it is also a Commandment for
us. This is true spirituality, and in this lies our opportunity to express
ourselves.
Sincerely, Leon Mazin
